There was a cool breeze rippling through the territory now and the ground underfoot seemed to be slowly drying from the snow that had bothered the clans for a very long time. The silver tabby cat padded through the trees looking at her feet trying to avoid the most soggy patches that she was bound to fall into.

She lifted her head, the scent of prey was strong here, and she was approaching the river that bordered Thunderclan territory, separating it from Riverclan. She was fully aware that the closer to the river she got the muddier the ground would become. Nevertheless she continued until she could see out across the river, the Riverclan scent was much stronger here, they must have marked the border recently, she thought to herself, I’ll do ours while I’m here! Her silver feet were growing heavy with moisture now but she was ignoring it as she padded over to the edge of the border and sprayed a marker. She knew it was dangerous to be alone so close to the border though so she slowly made her way back into the Thunderclan forest.

Lillywhisker spotted movement out of the corner of her eye and automatically dropped into a crouch, she did not see whether it was prey or another cat, it just appeared to be a shadow. Cautiously she continued forwards on her belly, the cold water hitting her belly fur bus she ignored it, a large shape was coming into view. The wind was blowing the wrong way so she still didn’t know what it was, but she was fully aware that she was nearing snakerocks and her gaurd tightened, it could be an adder and she did not want to get bitten.

Silverstar, ThunderClan Leader, watched Lillywhisker from a hedge, a far way from where the silver cat was crouching. She was also wondering if it was an adder. Silverstar shifted weight from one paw to the other and watched Lillywhisker to see what she would do. Of course, she'd help if anything happened, but she wanted to see how Lillywhisker would cope with an adder on her own...

As the crept closer still to the shadowy shape she was growing wearier still. The shape was moving around on the spot, or so it appeared to be at least. What is it? she lifted her head slowly and a hiss could be heard from somewhere ahead, maybe the shadow itself. Stunned for a minute Lillywhisker’s ears pricked and her head dipped back into the grass again.

Her heart beat had increased somewhat now and the scent of the Thunderclan leader had been carried to her on the breeze, but she did not want to loosen her guard to speak to Silverstar or even to pin point where she was. She was still fully aware that she could potentially come face to face with an adder. She had never been so close to Snakerocks on her own, and after this much worry she didn’t think that she would do again.

When there was more movement her silver fur fluffed up as the adder seemed to fly at her, tail fur bristling she bounded back into the cover of the forest until she was sure she had ran far enough. She was aware that she may have scared much prey away in her escape attempts but she didn’t care, she was just glad to be away from the immediate danger of the snake. Looking around she wondered where Silverstar was and whether the snake had followed her at all.

Silverstar leaped from the bush as soon as Lillywhisker had fled. She followed her, glancing briefly at the adder. She approached Lillywhisker with a nod as she slowed.

((OMG!!! I have had an awesome idea for a new plot!! There could be an over-population of snakes through the forest, and the adders etc. are threatening the Clans!!! Yay!! Thanks for the inspiration!!!!

The silver tabbies yellow eyes were wide with shock and fear. When she saw the leader that expression did not change at all. Her heart was pounding with so much force she thought it might leave her chest, her breaths were coming in short rasps as she tried to calm herself and get her breath back.

’Hello Silverstar…’ she panted as she collapsed on the floor to get her breath back. She wondered whether the leader would think she was a coward for running away, or unfit for being so out of breath. She was usually one of the most energetic cats in the clan, but the adder had definitely shaken her up, no one could deny that.

Silverstar smiled kindly. "Are you OK?" she asked the silver tabby. "It isn't good that that adder was around here... We should get back to camp." Silverstar began to walk towards the ThunderClan camp, looking over her shoulder to see if Lillywhisker was following.

Lillywhisker nodded as she caught her breath, but she was still anxiously looking around to see if the adder had followed after her, she had never seen one so close and never wanted to again. ’Good idea,’ she managed to mew at the comment about going to camp, she would be willing to do anything to get as far away from that thing as she possibly could. Standing up onto her silver paws she padded briskly after the leader throwing worried glances over her shoulder as she did so.

Her ears pricked when she realised the leader had said the adder shouldn’t have been around here. ’We were near Snakerocks though…’ she mewed although it was very delayed now. She couldn’t shake away the worry that had swept over her since she had seen it, and now at Silverstars words she was more worried.

Silverstar glanced at Lillywhisker. "Yes, that is a good point. I still feel they should not be here..." she mewed warily and continued to camp.

The silver tabby through her leader a sideways glance, she knew there was still something to worry about no matter how close to Snakerocks they were. Padding side by side with her leader Lillywhisker kept her senses alert for any other sign of snakes. She knew this was all the clan needed after the blizzard and the flood.
