Season Winds

Carrionclaw raised his muzzle to the skies. The scent of the new season was riding upon the winds, waiting for Green Leaf to pass. The thick pelted tom turned his tail on the forest, trotting silently back into camp. Glinting golden eyes narrowed at the lack of movement around camp. The clan had decreased in size over the moons. The wind swept through the camp and Carronclaw shivered, not because of the cold but in fear of Shadowclan's future, for his kits' future. Well they weren't kits anymore. The thought made him smiled as the warrior took his post at the camp perimeter. Snakes had been invading and he wasn't about the let anything touch a single clan member if he could help it.

Mosspelt padded silently out of her den, her yellow eyes glowing in the dimming light. After hearing about the snake attack on the ThunderClan cat the other day, she was being wary of anything moving. She spotted Carrionclaw trotting into camp and padded up to him.
"Hey," she mewed "Have you heard about that ThunderClan cat who was attacked by a snake?"

Nightstar cackled "Hah, well were not going to let out guard down. We are strongly bonded with out ancestors, we can fend off the snakes. Anyway, we need to get onto our duties."

Mosspelt turned her head to see Nightstar. She blinked politley at him and nodded her head, then turned her gaze to the darkening sky. She let out a long, slow breath and let the gentle wind wash over her face, and her emotions. She was calm. "Snakes..." she breathed, thinking of her kits.

((Dragon, could you make Mosspelt's other two kits apprentices now? It seems unfair for Honeypaw to be the only apprentice. Thanks.

Mosspelt ignored Nightstar's comments and looked on. She hated snakes, and she didn't give a care if Nightstar was afraid of snakes or not, she was. And she was worried about her kits. She closed her eyes.

((Tigerkit and Shadowkit. If you do, you will have to PM Fern (who is on holiday at the mo and owns Shadowkit) and yourself, cos you own Tigerkit, lol!

A shadow entered the clearing from the direction of the warriors den as Firecloud entered the center of camp after a short nap, clumps of moss still stuck in her long flowing pelt. Subconsciously scenting the air for any signs of her son, Sandpaw, her amber eyes blazed with worry as she found that his scent was not as strong as it should have been if he was simply doing apprentice duties.

Padding up to her leader and Mosspelt she couldn’t help but worry. Where could he be? she couldn’t get rid of the sinking feeling that he had left camp awhile ago and had gone looking for his father as he had promised he would as a kit. ’Nightstar,’ she mewed with a nod of her head as she tried to stay calm, ’Did you send Sandpaw out on an assessment today?’ she asked, that could mean that he wouldn’t be wandering around camp helping the elders, but he had only just become an apprentice, surely that was too soon for him.

Scenting the air again with the silly hope that it would be stronger she realised that Honeypaw’s scent was as strong as her sons, and she was certain she hadn’t sent her out anywhere, she should be around camp too. Maybe they have gone off somewhere together. she hoped, but even then they would get in trouble for not doing their duties.

Mosspelt turned her ears towards Firecloud. A sudden vicious thought hit her mind like the shock of falling down a ice slope in the middle of leaf-bare. What if Honeypaw had gone with Sandpaw? What if they were in danger? What if they were attacked by... SNAKES?! Mosspelt panicked. She began to whine softly with dismay and tears came rapidly to her yellow eyes.

Oh no, why didn’t he wait for me… she thought to herself, he knew I wanted to go and see him too! Holding back a tear she looked down at the floor. And if Honeypaw is with him! Looking into Mosspelt’s eyes she hoped the queen wouldn’t be angry for her son putting her daughter into danger like this. ’We have to find them Mosspelt!’ she mewed quietly her tail twitching in her eagerness to go and find her son.}

Mosspelt smiled weakly and sniffed. "Let's go." she mewed quietly, with shear detirmination on her face. The tortoiseshell queen slipped out of the camp entrance silently, looking back to see if Firecloud was following yet. She flicked her whiskers.

^{Firecloud nodded and bounded out after the queen, staying right at her heal until they made it through the camp entrance. On the outside she scented the air and stood by Mosspelts side, they seemed to be sharing the same thoughts of determination and worry for their kits. ’Let’s follow there scent!’ she mewed, although that was obviously what they had to do, how else would they find them. Taking a step forward she bounded off in the direction of the scent trial.}
